Transgaz and Argent LNG Sign MoU for Strategic Investment in US LNG Project
Transgaz and Argent LNG have signed a Memorandum of Understanding to explore a potential strategic investment in the LNG export terminal in Port Fourchon, Louisiana. This partnership aims to enhance Romania's long-term access to US LNG supplies and facilitate the transit of LNG to Central and Eastern Europe.

Transgaz SA and Argent LNG have formalized a non-binding Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to investigate a strategic capital investment in the LNG terminal project at Port Fourchon, Louisiana, which has a planned capacity of 25 million metric tons per annum, with the first commercial shipment expected in 2030. The agreement was signed by Ion Sterian and Jonathan Bass, alongside a confidentiality agreement to continue discussions about investment terms.
This initiative is aimed at strengthening Romania's role in regional energy security by diversifying gas supply routes and reducing dependency on Russian gas. The project will utilize Romanian gas transport infrastructure to facilitate LNG transit to Moldova, Ukraine, and other Central and Eastern European countries.
