Trinseo Launches Fourth-Generation SBR Binder Platform for Electric Vehicles
Trinseo has launched its fourth-generation SBR binder platform, specifically designed for electric vehicles and battery energy storage systems. This new platform, developed in collaboration with global battery manufacturers, boasts up to 30% higher peel strength than traditional SBR binders, enhancing electrode adhesion and production efficiency. The initial product, Voltabond 109 Latex Binder, supports various cell designs and improves high-temperature stability and charging speed, with production facilities located in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America.

Trinseo has introduced its fourth-generation SBR binder platform designed for electric vehicle (EV) and battery energy storage system (ESS) applications. Developed in collaboration with global battery manufacturers, this platform enhances energy density, durability, processability, and production efficiency.
It offers up to 30% higher peel strength than traditional SBR binders, facilitating stronger electrode adhesion and faster coating speeds essential for higher-capacity cells and extended EV driving range. The initial product, Voltabond 109 Latex Binder, is compatible with various cell designs and supports both graphite and low-to-medium silicon anodes.
This platform also features enhanced high-temperature stability and low internal cell resistance, promoting faster charging and reliable long-term performance. Production occurs in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America, strengthening Trinseo's global supply chain.
