Tripura Announces 193 New Flood Control Projects to Address River Erosion
Tripura will implement 193 flood control projects to enhance water resource management and combat river erosion. This initiative focuses on vulnerable regions, including Gomati district and Agartala, integrating modern technology for sustainable development.

On May 16, Tripura's Chief Minister Manik Saha announced the launch of 193 flood control projects statewide, targeting river erosion and enhancing water management. The initiative aims to fortify flood control in vulnerable areas, notably Gomati district and Agartala, while improving irrigation coverage, which currently spans 123,754 hectares with plans to add 10,401 hectares.
Additionally, 34 new minor irrigation structures will be constructed at a projected cost of Rs 972 crore. The State Data Center, developed under the National Hydrology Project, will facilitate better monitoring of groundwater and flood conditions. This project reflects a commitment to technology-driven governance and aims to enhance administrative efficiency through a new e-office system.
