TRISO-X Secures $11 Million Grant for Nuclear Fuel Campus Expansion in Tennessee
TRISO-X has received an $11 million grant from Tennessee to support the development of its nuclear fuel fabrication campus, including a new fuel facility and R&D center. This initiative aims to enhance U.S. energy security through advanced nuclear fuel production, generating over 1,000 jobs.

TRISO-X, LLC has been awarded an $11 million grant from the State of Tennessee to expand its nuclear fuel fabrication campus in Oak Ridge. The funding will facilitate the construction of a second commercial fuel facility and a research and development center, enhancing the state's nuclear manufacturing capabilities.
The current campus includes TX-1, the first commercial TRISO fuel fabrication facility in the U.S., and TX-2, which is expected to significantly increase production capacity and create over 1,000 jobs. The campus will support approximately 4.5 gigawatts of advanced nuclear power capacity.
TRISO-X obtained a 40-year Special Nuclear Material License in February 2026, allowing commercial fuel manufacturing with HALEU. This expansion positions the U.S. to enhance its leadership in advanced nuclear fuel production.
