Türkiye and UK Sign Cooperation Protocol for Hydrogen-Powered Train Development
Türkiye and the United Kingdom have signed a cooperation protocol for a hydrogen-powered train development project, with Turkish Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc. taking a central role and holding all intellectual and industrial property rights. The protocol was signed by Turkish Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc General Manager Selim Koçbay and UK Ambassador to Ankara Jill Morris.
The project aims to reduce carbon emissions and noise pollution through hydrogen fuel cell trains, with technical contributions from UK academic institutions. Prototype hydrogen locomotives will be manufactured at the Turkish Rail System Vehicles Industry Inc's Eskişehir Regional Directorate.
