Türkiye Plans $15 Billion Investment for Offshore Wind Energy Expansion
Türkiye's offshore wind energy initiative is set for a $15 billion investment, targeting 5,000 megawatts by 2035. The first tender is anticipated in early 2027.

Türkiye is advancing its offshore wind energy development with an estimated potential of 5,000 megawatts, necessitating approximately $15 billion in investments. The initial tender is scheduled for early 2027, following a roadmap established with the Energy and Natural Resources Ministry over the last few years.
Key regions under consideration include the Marmara and Aegean coasts, chosen for their favorable sea depth conditions. However, sensitive zones and protected areas have been avoided in the planning process.
The project aims to achieve 1 gigawatt of annual installation by 2030-2035, despite higher costs compared to land-based alternatives. Ongoing studies are projected to require annual investments of $2.5 to $3 billion to meet the 5,000 MW target.
