Türkiye to Host International Astronautical Congress 2026 in Antalya, Showcasing Space Achievements
Türkiye is set to host the International Astronautical Congress (IAC) from October 5-9, 2026, in Antalya, aiming to elevate its profile in global space exploration. Following its first manned space mission in 2024, with astronauts Alper Gezeravcı and Tuva Cihangir Atasever, Türkiye is focusing on enhancing its influence in the aerospace sector.
The congress, attended by over 10,000 global leaders, will highlight Türkiye's space achievements and projects, under the slogan 'The World Needs More Space.' Türkiye's space budget has increased to approximately 9 billion lira for 2026, supporting initiatives including the development of a spaceport in Somalia for autonomous satellite launches.
The event aims to strengthen international cooperation and promote sustainable space initiatives. Türkiye Space Agency President Yusuf Kıraç's election as Vice President of the International Astronautical Federation emphasizes the country's growing role in space diplomacy.
