On February 13, a truck carrying copper mineral concentrate caught fire on Gold Mine Road in Bannister at approximately 9pm. The fire, originating from a mechanical brake fault, prompted emergency services to issue a hazmat warning for nearby residents due to hazardous smoke.
Over 30 emergency personnel responded, and a section of Gold Mine Road was closed to manage the situation.
