Truman Estates Appeals Tower Hamlets' Rejection of London Data Center Project

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Truman Estates has appealed Tower Hamlets Council's rejection of a data center and housing development at the historic Truman Brewery site in London. The Secretary of State for Housing, Steve Reed, may overrule the council's decision.

The proposed data center would span 5,266 sqm and reach 29 meters in height. Plans also include 44 homes, with 11 designated as affordable housing. The redevelopment is estimated to cost £500 million.

Opposition from residents includes a petition with over 1,200 signatures, citing concerns over environmental impact and local infrastructure strain. An alternative plan suggests the site could accommodate 350 homes.
