Trump Administration Criticizes Climate Models Developed by NCAR as 'Woke'
The Trump administration has criticized climate models developed by the National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR), including the Community Earth System Model and the Weather Research and Forecasting Model, labeling them as "woke" and unnecessary. These sophisticated models, essential for global climate studies and utilized by the UN climate panel, are compared in complexity to aviation software and are employed in various research projects, such as assessing wind energy potential in the Andes.

The National Center for Atmospheric Research (NCAR) is criticized by the Trump administration for its climate models, which include the Community Earth System Model (CESM) and the Weather Research and Forecasting Model (WRF). These models, used by the UN climate panel (IPCC), require the world's strongest supercomputers for operation.
The CESM consists of 2 million lines of code, comparable to the software used for flying a Boeing aircraft. Researchers, including Wim Thiery from VUB, utilize these models for various studies, including wind energy potential in the Andes, in collaboration with industry partners like Engie. The Trump administration labels such climate research as unnecessary and
