Trungnam to Develop $191M Floating Solar Plant on Đồng Nai 2 Reservoir
Trungnam Hydroelectric Corp is set to invest approximately $191 million in a floating solar power project on Đồng Nai 2 reservoir, aiming for 240MW capacity and 460 million kWh annual output. This initiative supports Vietnam's renewable energy goals and efficient use of existing hydropower infrastructure.

Trungnam Hydroelectric Corp will construct a floating solar power facility on the Đồng Nai 2 hydropower reservoir with a total investment of nearly VNĐ5 trillion (about $191 million). The project will have a capacity of 240MW (300MWp) and is projected to produce around 460 million kWh of electricity annually.
Covering about 355 hectares, the plant is scheduled for completion in Q3 2027 with commercial operations expected by Q4 2027. By utilizing the existing reservoir, the project minimizes land use and integrates with current transmission infrastructure, enhancing efficiency and lowering costs. This initiative aligns with Vietnam's energy transition strategy, contributing to renewable capacity growth and reduction in fossil fuel dependence.
