Turner Construction and McCarthy Building to Lead Phase 2 of $15 Billion Lighthouse Data Center in Wisconsin
Turner Construction Co. and McCarthy Building Companies have been selected as general contractors for Phase 2 of the $15 billion Lighthouse data center project in Port Washington, Wisconsin, developed by Vantage Data Centers. This phase will create over 4,000 construction jobs and 1,000 permanent jobs.
The project, which broke ground in December, spans over 600 acres and will consist of four data center buildings with a total energy capacity of 902 megawatts, aimed at supporting tech companies OpenAI and Oracle. Completion is expected in 2028.
The construction will focus on sustainability, incorporating cooling solutions, additional power capacity to the local grid, and noise mitigation. The Public Service Commission of Wisconsin is currently reviewing a proposal for additional power lines to support the high electricity demand anticipated from the project, which could result in significant electricity costs in the state by 2050.
