Two Solar Projects in Concord Set to Launch This Summer
Two five-megawatt solar arrays in Concord are nearing completion, with interconnection facilitated by Unitil. This rapid development highlights the contrast in utility responsiveness between Unitil and Eversource, as New Hampshire seeks to improve its solar energy output, which currently lags behind the New England average.

Two solar projects in Concord are projected to begin operations this summer, with each array generating five megawatts. Developed by Lodestar Energy and Kearsarge Energy, these projects are being expedited by Unitil's effective interconnection process, contrasting the delays experienced with Eversource.
The Concord transfer station project will utilize 11,000 panels on closed landfill, potentially powering 1,000 homes. Legislative changes in 2021 raised the net metering cap, facilitating larger solar initiatives.
Despite progress, New Hampshire's solar energy accounts for only 2% of its energy production, significantly below the New England average of 15%. Enhancing utility responsiveness is critical for future solar expansions.
