A collision between two loco trains occurred inside a tunnel at the Vishnugad-Pipalkoti hydropower project in Uttarakhand's Chamoli district around 9:30 PM on December 30, 2025. The incident took place during a shift change and involved 109 workers, resulting in at least 60 injuries.
Emergency response teams deployed 20 ambulances to the site, with 42 injured workers taken to the district hospital and 17 to Vivekananda Hospital in Pipalkoti. Four to five individuals sustained fractures.
