Two Workers Die in Chattogram Wasa Project Due to Unapproved Excavation
A probe revealed unapproved excavation practices led to the deaths of two workers in Chattogram. Legal action is planned against involved parties as the project continues under scrutiny.

An investigation into the deaths of two workers during a soil collapse at a Chattogram Wasa sewerage project found that the excavation was conducted without proper approval and safety protocols. The incident occurred on April 23, with the probe committee reporting that the work was not part of the approved schedule.
Legal actions are set to be initiated against those responsible, including a contractor's engineer who has since gone missing. The project is intended to create a wastewater treatment facility capable of handling 100 million litres daily, serving approximately 2 million residents across 22 wards. The contractor has compensated the families of the deceased and is covering medical expenses for the injured workers, but ongoing negligence issues could delay project timelines.
