U-Haul Data Reveals New Mexico Ranks 22nd in Moving Destinations for 2025

DATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

U-Haul data indicates that New Mexico ranked 22nd in moving destinations for 2025, while Texas was first. The data, derived from over 2.5 million one-way truck, trailer, and U-Box rentals, revealed that migration into New Mexico made up 50.1% of all traffic.

Las Cruces, along with cities like Alamogordo, Carlsbad, and Santa Fe, experienced notable traffic growth. In 2024, New Mexico was placed 37th on U-Haul's growth list. The 2020 Census reported a 14.1% population increase in Las Cruces, which surpassed 110,000 residents. Projections suggest continued growth in the city, driven by economic developments including a new electric vehicle manufacturing plant and a data center in Doña Ana County.
