A delegation from the UAE Space Agency, headed by Minister of Sports and Chairman Dr. Ahmad Belhoul Al Falasi, recently embarked on an official visit to Japan, a key step in the UAE's strategy to bolster international partnerships in space exploration and advanced industries.

Dr. Al Falasi articulated a forward-looking vision for the UAE's space sector, guided by the National Space Strategy 2030, which aims to cultivate a sustainable space economy, promote scientific research, and engage the private sector in space initiatives.

The UAE's commitment to fostering international collaboration was evident in discussions held with Japanese officials, including Matsuo Takehiko, Vice Minister for International Affairs at the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry. These conversations explored potential collaborations in developing space-related industries and supporting innovation in exploration technologies.

The delegation's itinerary included a visit to the JAXA Tsukuba Space Center, where Dr. Hiroshi Yamakawa, President of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency, showcased Japan's leading scientific initiatives, including advancements in space sensing systems and deep space exploration programs.

Additionally, the delegation toured the Tobeshima plant of Mitsubishi Heavy Industries, a renowned center for spacecraft manufacturing, where discussions with Iwao Igarashi, Vice President of Space Systems, centered on enhancing collaboration and knowledge transfer in space manufacturing.

Salem Butti Al Qubaisi, Director General of the UAE Space Agency, emphasized that this visit marks a significant milestone in the strategic partnership between the UAE and Japan. By exploring advanced developments and joint projects, both nations aim to enhance their capabilities and create new opportunities for youth in the space sector. Through these partnerships, the UAE aspires to play a pivotal role in a more interconnected global space ecosystem that benefits all of humanity.
