UD Trucks (Thailand) Faces Challenges in Electric Truck Adoption
Despite interest in electric mobility, UD Trucks (Thailand) identifies significant barriers to electric truck implementation. The company's feasibility study on battery electric vehicles and fuel cell technology highlights the ongoing reliance on diesel in the Thai logistics sector.

UD Trucks (Thailand) is conducting a feasibility study on battery electric vehicles (BEVs) and fuel cell technology amid challenges in the Thai logistics sector. Diesel remains prevalent due to government subsidies that stabilize fuel prices, reinforcing its dominance.
The Bangkok factory has an annual capacity of 20,000 trucks but produced only 10,000 units recently. The company aims for a 10% sales increase in 2026, targeting agriculture and corporate sectors. Currently, UD Trucks holds a 13% market share in Thailand. Ongoing geopolitical tensions and rising energy costs further complicate operations, although truck prices have been maintained.
