Uisce Éireann has received planning approval to upgrade the Fahan wastewater treatment plant, converting it into a pumping station and constructing a 6.2km wastewater rising main to connect with the Buncrana wastewater network. The Buncrana plant will also be upgraded to accommodate a population of 17,700. Councillor Fionán Bradley emphasized the significance of the project for local housing developments but criticized Uisce Éireann for not addressing the sewerage issues faced by Lisfannon residents, who will not be connected to the new sewer despite the ongoing work.
