UK Grants Approval for 1.5GW Outer Dowsing Offshore Wind Farm by Corio and TotalEnergies
The UK government has granted planning consent for the 1.5GW Outer Dowsing offshore wind farm, developed by Corio, TotalEnergies, and Gulf Energy. The project, consisting of up to 100 turbines, is set to begin construction in 2027 and aims to connect to the National Grid by November 2030. It is expected to generate renewable electricity for over 1.6 million households and inject around £2bn into the UK economy.

The UK energy secretary has approved the 1.5GW Outer Dowsing offshore wind farm, a joint project by Corio, TotalEnergies, and Gulf Energy. The project will consist of 100 turbines and is expected to start construction in 2027, with operations commencing by November 2030.
It will connect to a new National Grid substation in Lincolnshire. The project did not secure a Contracts for Difference in the recent Allocation Round 7 but is eligible for AR8. The development is projected to create over 1,000 jobs and contribute approximately £2bn to the UK economy over its lifespan.
