UK Signs Critical Minerals Agreement with Kazakhstan to Enhance Supply Chains
The UK has signed a critical minerals deal with Kazakhstan, aiming to diversify supply chains and support British investment in the region. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed by Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister for Industry and the UK Trade Minister. This agreement aligns with the UK's Critical Minerals Strategy, which seeks to reduce dependency on single countries for critical minerals by 2035. Additionally, the UK announced education cooperation agreements with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, and further initiatives in carbon capture and forestry.

The UK and Kazakhstan have signed a critical minerals deal to enhance supply chain diversification and bolster British investments. The MoU was signed by Kazakhstan's Deputy Minister for Industry and the UK's Trade Minister.
This agreement supports the UK’s Critical Minerals Strategy, which aims to limit reliance on any single country for critical minerals by 2035. Kazakhstan produces 22 of the 36 minerals identified in this strategy. The UK also plans to strengthen educational ties with Tajikistan, Turkmenistan, and Uzbekistan, and announced initiatives for carbon capture projects with Kyrgyzstan and a £100 million forestry project.
