UK Waste Services Providers Collaborate on Circular Economy Design Initiative
Major UK waste service providers, including CIWM, Biffa, SUEZ, and DS Smith, are launching a sustainable design initiative focused on integrating circular economy principles into product development. Supported by organizations such as WRAP and the Design Council, the program aims to foster collaboration between the design and waste sectors. Participants will engage in site visits, expert-led sessions, and workshops on circular design. The initiative will inform future strategies and policies, with findings presented to the government and businesses starting in autumn.

A partnership involving the Chartered Institution of Wastes Management (CIWM), URGE Collective, and waste service providers like Biffa, SUEZ, and DS Smith is launching a sustainable design initiative named Design Skills for Embedding Circularity in the UK. This pilot program, supported by WRAP and the Design Council, aims to integrate circular economy thinking into product and system development.
Participants will have opportunities to visit waste treatment sites, engage in workshops on circular design, and learn from waste management experts. The initiative seeks to inform future strategies and policies with findings presented to the government and businesses in autumn. The project initially targets England, with plans for broader implementation.
