The UK's Maritime and Coastguard Agency is seeking a provider for a new data center to support Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) by July 1, 2026. The £1.5 million contract aims to ensure compliance with SOLAS convention requirements for vessel tracking.

The UK's Maritime and Coastguard Agency has issued a tender for a data center to manage Long Range Identification and Tracking (LRIT) data, essential for compliance with the Safety of Life at Sea (SOLAS) guidelines. The center is expected to be operational by July 1, 2026, and must integrate with the MCA's Maritime Domain Awareness Platform.
The contract, valued at approximately £1.5 million ($1.98 million), includes requirements for migrating legacy data and maintaining the new facility. Interested providers have until May 5, 2026, to submit proposals.
The MCA is headquartered in Southampton, although the exact location of the new data center has not been disclosed. This initiative reflects the increasing importance of maritime safety and real-time tracking in maritime operations.
