Unitywater has begun an upgrade of the water main along Bribie Island Road, utilizing trenchless methods such as Horizontal Directional Drilling and auger boring. The project involves the installation of 300 meters of new pipeline, enhancing the reliability of the water network.
Completion is projected for mid-2026 and is part of a $2 billion investment over five years for water and wastewater infrastructure. Traffic changes including lane closures will occur during construction, which is expected to take five months, contingent on weather and ground conditions. Downer will mobilize to the site in the coming weeks to start the construction.
