Universal Health Insurance Authority Approves Governance and Financial Measures in Egypt

The Universal Health Insurance Authority (UHIA) held its 100th board meeting, approving regulatory, financial, and technical measures to enhance governance and operational efficiency in Egypt's health insurance system. The board adopted its first Anti-Abuse, Anti-Fraud, and Anti-Manipulation Policy to protect resources and ensure effective spending during expanding health service delivery.

It reviewed the 2025 Internal Audit and Governance Plan and approved the 2026 plan, focusing on internal controls and data-driven decision-making. The board renewed a cooperation protocol with Egypt Post and endorsed a new agreement with the WHO Egypt Office for capacity-building and service quality.

Additionally, a protocol with the Ministry of Finance was approved, utilizing support from the French Development Agency. A contract with Vodafone for data center hosting was renewed for January to June 2026. The next board meeting is scheduled for February 16, 2026, to discuss financial statements for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025.
