University of Arizona's Tech Launch Arizona Receives Support from Wildcat Philanthropic Seed Fund
Tech Launch Arizona, the technology commercialization arm of the University of Arizona, is deploying capital from the Wildcat Philanthropic Seed Fund to support early-stage startups. Established in 2023, the fund aims to help companies overcome early-stage risks in technology development and commercialization.
It has raised almost 60% of its initial target and invested in three startups: CarbeniumTec, LifeSpan Digital Health, and UGenome AI. CarbeniumTec, founded in 2022, is developing an organic-based redox flow battery for long-duration energy storage, shifting from traditional lithium-ion batteries.
The fund operates as an evergreen resource, with contributions treated as charitable gifts and successful exits reinvested. It also provides experiential learning for students.
