University of Macerata Opens New Student Secretariat in Former Bank Building
The University of Macerata inaugurated a new student secretariat in the historic Palazzo Silvestri, previously the Bank of Italy, with an investment of approximately 1 million euros. The basement now houses a document archive and a new data center, while the ground floor accommodates the student offices.
This facility will operate as a one-stop service for students starting next week. University Rector John McCourt emphasized the importance of the project for the university and the city, noting it as an 'injection of confidence' for the future.
The university acquired the property from the Bank of Italy, which includes Palazzo dei Diamanti, Palazzo Silvestri, and Palazzo Lazzarini, with plans for further renovations to create a vibrant center for students. Future projects include student housing and administrative office spaces, with the complete renovation expected to take several years.
