University of Southampton Secures 8.3 Million DKK Grant for Offshore Wind Research in Greater North Sea
The University of Southampton has been awarded 8.3 million DKK (970,300 GBP) from the VELUX FOUNDATION for the four-year project, Decision Support Tools for Spatial Planning and Cumulative Effects Assessment of Offshore Wind in the Greater North Sea, running from January 2026 to December 2029. This initiative will investigate the interaction between offshore wind development and other marine activities, utilizing artificial intelligence and existing data to create new digital maps and models. The project aims to support responsible planning by providing decision support tools for governments and industry, ensuring a comprehensive approach to offshore wind expansion.
