University of Twente Leads €8M Sodium-Ion Battery Research Consortium in Netherlands
The University of Twente is leading the NANEXBAT consortium, which has secured €8 million from the Dutch Research Council for a five-year project focused on sodium-ion battery research. This initiative aims to innovate materials for enhanced battery performance in heavy-duty mobility and stationary energy storage, involving eight industrial partners and five universities under the national Growthfund programme for sustainable battery technologies.

The University of Twente leads the NANEXBAT consortium, which received €8 million from the Dutch Research Council for sodium-ion battery research. The five-year project will focus on materials innovations to enhance sodium-ion batteries, particularly for heavy-duty mobility and stationary energy storage. The consortium includes eight industrial partners and five universities, aiming to develop more sustainable battery technologies under the national Growthfund programme 'Material Independence and Circular Batteries.'
