Unki Mine Platinum Production Stabilizes Amid Q4 Decline
Unki Mine's platinum output held steady at 75,000 ounces in 2017 despite an 18% Q4 drop. This stability occurs as Anglo American Platinum reports overall production increases across its operations.

Unki Mine, a major platinum producer in Zimbabwe, maintained a production level of 75,000 ounces for the year 2017, while experiencing an 18% decline in output in the fourth quarter to 16,400 ounces. This decrease was attributed to scheduled maintenance on the mill feed silo, completed in December 2017.
In contrast, Anglo American Platinum reported a 3% rise in its group-wide platinum production to 291,800 ounces and a 5% increase in palladium production to 213,700 ounces. For the full year, the group's platinum production totaled 2.39 million ounces.
Exploration and evaluation costs for the quarter fell by 3% to $67 million. The flat production at Unki may indicate operational challenges that could impact future output levels.
