UPM Energy to Invest Over EUR 20 Million in Tyrvää Hydropower Plant Modernization in Finland
UPM Energy is investing more than EUR 20 million to modernize the Tyrvää hydropower plant in Finland. The project aims to enhance the plant's operational safety and its capability to provide balancing power to the electricity grid, with completion expected by the end of 2030. Key upgrades include new generator stators, water-lubricated turbine runners, and modern automation systems to improve efficiency and reduce environmental risks.

UPM Energy is investing over EUR 20 million in the modernization of the Tyrvää hydropower plant, located in Finland's Pirkanmaa region. The project will ensure safe operation into the future and enhance the plant's ability to provide balancing power for the electricity grid.
The upgrades will include refurbishing turbine-generator units, installing new generator stators, and replacing oil-lubricated turbine runners with water-lubricated ones. Completion is expected by the end of 2030. Modern automation and control systems will be implemented, improving operational efficiency and safety.
