U.S. Court Sets Deadline for Tariff Refund Plan; Lawmakers Urge Japan on Potato Market Access

Customs and Border Protection anticipates issuing refunds by late April, following a Supreme Court ruling against emergency tariffs. Separately, over 60 U.S. lawmakers are pushing for market access for U.S. potatoes during the Japanese Prime Minister's upcoming visit. Meanwhile, discussions are ongoing regarding a trade agreement in critical minerals involving the U.S., Japan, and the EU.

The Trump administration faces a 2 p.m. deadline to report to the U.S. Court of International Trade on its tariff refund plan. Customs and Border Protection aims to start issuing refunds by late April after collecting approximately $166 billion in tariffs.
Concurrently, over 60 lawmakers are urging the administration to secure market access for U.S. potatoes from Japan during the visit of Prime Minister Sanae Takaichi. Additionally, the U.S. is preparing a trade agreement with Japan and the EU regarding critical minerals, with negotiations set to begin in April, following Beijing's export controls.
