US Marine Corps Receives Tamir Interceptors for MRIC System
The US Marine Corps has received its first batch of Tamir interceptors for the Medium-Range Intercept Capability (MRIC) program, marking a significant enhancement in medium-range air defense. This delivery initiates a multi-year program following successful evaluations and operational assessments.

Israel's Missile Defense Organization and Rafael Advanced Defense Systems have delivered Tamir interceptors as part of the MRIC program. The initial delivery supports the operational deployment of an MRIC platoon, which is the Marine Corps' first medium-range air defense capability since the late 1990s.
The MRIC system integrates the Iron Dome and is designed to defend various threats, including drones and missiles. The US Marine Corps approved the system's development after live tests in 2022, with plans for fielding to begin in 2025.
By the end of 2028, three Marine Air Wings are expected to be equipped with MRIC batteries. In addition, a joint venture between Raytheon and Rafael will manufacture Tamir missiles in Arkansas, with the facility completing in November 2025 and securing a $1.25 billion order for Israel.
