USAF to Enhance Autonomous Navigation for GPS-Denied Operations
The US Air Force plans to expedite the development of navigation capabilities for aircraft in GPS-denied environments over the next 18 months. This initiative aims to improve operational effectiveness for both rotary and fixed-wing platforms.

The US Air Force Research Laboratory (AFRL) is focusing on developing resilient navigation capabilities suitable for GPS-denied environments, targeting a completion timeline of 18 months. This effort is part of the TRIDENT program, which includes conducting test flights with various aircraft types to gather data for future technologies.
A US$2 million Tactical Funding Increase (TACFI) contract has been awarded to support these initiatives. This advancement could significantly enhance operational flexibility and mission success in complex environments, mitigating reliance on GPS.
