Usbekistan Sets Digital Technology Development Goals for 2026, Aiming for 5,000 Start-ups by 2030
Uzbekistan's President Shavkat Mirziyoyev has outlined ambitious digital technology development goals, targeting the establishment of 5,000 start-ups by 2030 and a venture capital investment of $2 billion. The initiative includes a four-stage support system for start-ups, the enhancement of digital services, and the integration of AI technologies, alongside plans to improve telecommunications infrastructure and internet access by 2026.

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev reviewed priorities for digital technology development in Uzbekistan, aiming for 5,000 start-ups by 2030 and a venture capital investment volume of $2 billion. The country's start-up ecosystem is projected to reach $3.9 billion by 2025, with over 750 domestic start-ups and 15 venture funds active, totaling over $180 million.
A four-stage start-up support system will be introduced, incorporating grants, tax incentives, and co-financing mechanisms. Plans also include increasing digital services to 900 and enhancing the MyGov.uz mobile application, integrating AI technologies in over 50 services, and fully digitizing various public processes.
Infrastructure for AI technologies is being developed, including the operation of a modern supercomputer and the establishment of AI labs at 15 universities. The telecommunications sector will expand 5G technologies and improve internet access in populous areas by 2026.
