Utah's AI Supercomputer to Launch This Summer with $15 Million Funding
The University of Utah's new AI supercomputer, backed by $15 million from the state legislature, will enhance research capabilities across multiple sectors. This initiative aims to democratize access to high-performance computing resources for academics, government, and industry partners in Utah.

A new AI supercomputing system at the University of Utah is set to be operational by mid-summer 2026, following $15 million in funding from the state's legislature. Designed to increase computing capacity by 3.5 times, the system will enable simultaneous work on various data-intensive projects, including biomedical research and environmental modeling.
This initiative supports Utah's Pro-Human AI Initiative, facilitating collaboration among academia, industry, and government. Early access for academic users will commence in summer, with industry access to follow. The partnership with Hewlett-Packard Enterprise and NVIDIA plays a critical role in ensuring that essential AI resources are available statewide, reducing barriers for smaller entities.
