Uttarakhand Allocates ₹500 Crore for Ganga Corridor and Hydropower Initiatives
Uttarakhand has approved over ₹500 crore for infrastructure, Ganga Corridor redevelopment, and small hydropower projects. This funding aims to enhance tourism, energy production, and economic activity in the region.

The government of Uttarakhand has sanctioned ₹500 crore for infrastructure development, including ₹150 crore for general infrastructure and ₹350 crore for ongoing mega projects under the Special Assistance to States for Capital Investment scheme. Additionally, ₹106.78 crore has been allocated for the development of Triveni Ghat as part of the Rishikesh Ganga Corridor project, with the Centre contributing ₹11.37 crore for its first phase in the 2025-26 financial year.
Small hydropower projects are included in this funding, aimed at decentralized energy generation in hilly regions. These initiatives are expected to bolster tourism, improve public facilities, and strengthen the local economy. Successful implementation will rely on inter-departmental coordination and the ability to navigate past challenges faced in hilly terrain.
