Uttarakhand CM Directs Medical Care After Chamoli Train Collision at THDC Hydroelectric Project
Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami reported on a train collision involving two locomotives at the THDC Vishnugad-Pipalkoti Hydroelectric Project in Pipalkoti, Chamoli district, which occurred around 9:30 PM on Tuesday. Of the 109 individuals on board, approximately 60 were injured, with 42 admitted to the district hospital and 17 to Vivekananda Hospital in Pipalkoti.
Immediate medical attention was provided, with 66 workers discharged after first aid. CM Dhami instructed officials to ensure proper medical care for the injured and facilitate referrals to higher medical centers as needed.
The incident was clarified by Indian Railways as not involving its trains, stating that the locomotives were part of a local transportation arrangement for the tunnel construction project. A magisterial inquiry has been ordered to investigate the incident further.
