In 2025, Uzbekistan transformed its energy sector, attracting over $35 billion in foreign investment and adding approximately 9,000 MW of new capacity. Electricity generation rose from 60 billion kWh in 2017 to around 85 billion kWh.

Renewable energy saw significant growth, with nearly 5,000 MW of solar and wind capacity contributing to 30% of total generation capacity. Major projects included the Upper Pskem Hydropower Plant, a 1 GW wind power plant in Karakalpakstan with AMEA Power, and a 300 MWh Battery Energy Storage System.

The government targeted 26% renewable energy in generation by 2025 and 40% by 2030. By year-end, 42 energy facilities were launched, valued at nearly $11 billion, expected to generate 15 billion kWh annually. Uzbekistan also made strides in nuclear energy, with construction commencing on its first nuclear power plant, expected to generate over 15 billion kWh annually by 2035.
