Uzbekistan and Türkiye's Limak Explore Hydropower Cooperation
Uzbekistan and Türkiye's Limak company are in discussions for collaboration on hydroelectric power plant construction, with talks led by Uzbekistan's Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Kuchkarov and Limak Founder Sezai Bacaksiz. Limak, which has built 10 hydroelectric plants in Türkiye, may aid Uzbekistan in its goal to establish nearly 3,000 micro-hydropower plants by 2026 and also participate in modernizing an international airport.

Limak has built 10 hydroelectric plants in Türkiye, and its expertise may benefit Uzbekistan, which currently operates 58 hydroelectric stations with a capacity of 2,233 MW. The Uzbek government plans to establish nearly 3,000 micro-hydropower plants by 2026, aiming to enhance renewable capacity by 164 MW.
In 2023, eight new stations were completed. Limak may also participate in modernizing one of Uzbekistan's international airports, leveraging its experience from similar projects in Kuwait, Senegal, and Kosovo. Limak's annual revenue is $4.1 billion, making it the top construction firm in Türkiye and among the largest globally.
