Uzbekistan Launches $2.7 Billion Copper Processing Plant in Olmalik
The third copper enrichment plant in Olmalik, Uzbekistan, was inaugurated with an investment of $2.7 billion. The facility, part of the 'Yoshlik-1' development program, covers 196 hectares and can process 60 million tons of ore annually, producing 900,000 tons of copper concentrate. Advanced technologies from international firms were utilized, and the project is expected to create over 6,000 jobs while enhancing the region's industrial capacity and resource processing capabilities.

Uzbekistan launched its third copper processing plant in Olmalik, a $2.7 billion project covering 196 hectares. The plant will process 60 million tons of ore annually, yielding approximately 900,000 tons of copper concentrate.
This facility is among the largest in Central Asia and employs technologies from several international companies, including Wood and Worley Parsons. The initiative aims to create over 6,000 jobs and significantly enhance the country's industrial capacity. Future expansions in copper processing are planned, with production targets set for 2030 including 500,000 tons of copper and 175 tons of gold.
