Vale of Glamorgan Expands Soft Plastic Recycling Scheme After Successful Pilot
The Vale of Glamorgan Council will expand its kerbside soft plastics recycling scheme to all areas starting April 13, following a pilot that collected about 100 tonnes of waste. This initiative aims to enhance recycling efforts and supports the region's commitment to carbon neutrality by 2030.

Starting April 13, the Vale of Glamorgan Council will implement its kerbside soft plastics recycling scheme across all areas with collection services. This decision follows a pilot program in Penarth, Dinas Powys, and Sully, which successfully collected approximately 100 tonnes of soft plastic waste.
WRAP Cymru monitored the pilot to evaluate participation and its effectiveness. Blue sacks for soft plastics have been distributed to residents, with additional sacks available at local libraries and Civic Offices. The expansion reflects community support for innovative recycling methods and aligns with the council's sustainability goals, including a commitment to achieve carbon neutrality by 2030.
