Valera Recycling to Launch Reduced-Scale Facility in Tamworth Following Council Grant Decision
Valera Recycling will proceed with a smaller-scale hard plastics recycling operation in Tamworth after Tamworth Regional Council returned a $1.9 million grant from the NSW EPA. The project's timeline has extended to two to three years due to the loss of state support, but initial operations are expected to commence sooner at a temporary location.

Valera Recycling will initiate its hard plastics recycling facility in Tamworth, albeit on a reduced scale, following the Tamworth Regional Council's decision to return a $1.9 million grant to the NSW EPA. The initial start will occur at the Forest Road Waste Facility, processing plastic waste into pellets with a single processing line transported from Sydney.
The company's director, Marc Ralph, indicated that while the project timeline has shifted to two or three years due to the lack of state funding, operations may begin sooner than anticipated. Valera plans to source waste from surrounding areas and is already in talks with Baiada for material supply. This development reflects a commitment to recycling in the region despite the challenges faced.
