Van Wert City Council Discusses Data Center, Speed Limit, and Pool Research
Van Wert City Council addressed several topics, including a data center planned at the Mega Site, which has raised public concerns. Councilman Dewaine Johnson indicated that questions regarding the center will be answered by the Van Wert Area Economic Development Corporation. A hotel may be built due to the data center's impact, with details forthcoming. Councilman Eric Hurless reported on ongoing research for a municipal pool, with no decisions made yet. Additionally, a proposal to lower the speed limit on Van Wert Decatur Road is forthcoming.

At the Van Wert City Council meeting, Councilman Dewaine Johnson reported that questions regarding the planned data center at the Mega Site will be addressed by the Van Wert Area Economic Development Corporation. The identity of the data center's operator will be revealed in late March.
Additionally, a Hampton Inn may be constructed in the area as a result. Councilman Eric Hurless updated on municipal pool research, stating no decisions are currently being made. Efforts to gather information will pause until April.
Mayor Ken Markward announced plans to lower the speed limit on Van Wert Decatur Road, with a recommendation expected at the next meeting. Other discussions included new sidewalks and a potential noise ordinance. The council passed legislation for a sewer overflow project and discussed the continuation of Ohio Power's operations in the city.
