Van Wert County Zoning Initiative Targets Data Center Development
A petition to repeal data center zoning in Van Wert has been filed, potentially impacting a $10 billion QTS project.

A petition to repeal an ordinance allowing data centers in industrial zones in Van Wert has been submitted. This initiative, led by resident Joe Jared, aims to halt QTS Data Centers' planned $10 billion facility at the Mega Site.
The Van Wert County Board of Elections is currently verifying signatures from registered city voters, with a deadline of 10 days for completion. If the petition garners enough valid signatures and the language is approved, it could be placed on the November 3 ballot.
The proposed change follows legislation passed by the Van Wert City Council in May permitting data centers in I-2 districts. The outcome may significantly influence future industrial zoning decisions in the area.
