Varta Reduces 150 Jobs in Micro Production at Nördlingen Facility
Varta has laid off 150 employees at its Micro Production unit in Nördlingen due to reduced sales volumes and shifted customer forecasts. The company aims to adapt its workforce to changing market conditions and is implementing measures in coordination with the works council, including a voluntary program and social plan. Varta's restructuring plan is set to continue until the end of 2027, focusing on restoring profitability in micro batteries and energy storage systems.

Varta has announced a reduction of 150 positions at its Micro Production facility in Nördlingen, attributed to significantly lower sales volumes and revised customer forecasts. The layoffs were confirmed by a company spokesperson and were communicated to employees before Christmas.
Varta is adjusting its workforce to align with changing market conditions and will implement measures in close cooperation with the works council, including a voluntary program and social plan. The restructuring plan, supported by new capital from Porsche and majority owner Michael Tojner, aims for a return to profitability in micro batteries and energy storage systems by the end of 2027. Varta currently employs around 4,200 staff.
