Vema Hydrogen Completes Pilot Wells in Quebec for Engineered Mineral Hydrogen Project

HYDROGENDATA AND AI INFRASTRUCTURE

Vema Hydrogen has completed drilling its first two pilot wells in Quebec, marking the world's first Engineered Mineral Hydrogen™ pilot project. This initiative aims to produce clean, baseload hydrogen directly from subsurface rock formations, addressing the rising energy demands from industrial activity and AI-driven data centers in North America.

Quebec's geology presents a unique opportunity for this low-cost hydrogen production. The pilot will involve subsurface analysis to evaluate fluid movement and monitor hydrogen production, generating data to refine Vema’s commercialization models.

Additionally, Vema has entered a 10-year hydrogen purchase agreement with Verne Power to supply clean hydrogen for California's data centers. This project positions Quebec as a leader in next-generation energy innovation and supports regional decarbonization goals.
