Venture Capital Investments Surge in Climate Tech Driven by AI Applications
Venture capital investment in climate technology is accelerating, particularly in AI-enabled solutions. Notable deals include Crusoe Energy's $1.4 billion Series E funding in October, focused on low-impact datacenters optimized for AI, and its partnership in the $500 billion Stargate datacenter project with Oracle and OpenAI.
KoBold Metals secured $537 million in January and $163.4 million in November for its AI-driven mineral discovery operations in Zambia. Fermi raised $350 million in September for developing next-generation energy grids supporting AI datacenters. These investments reflect a growing interest in low-carbon solutions for datacenters, with AI applications also expanding in grid monitoring and energy management, as well as in weather forecasting and geospatial monitoring.
