Vertical Aerospace Launches Battery Production Pilot Line at Vertical Energy Centre
Vertical Aerospace has launched a battery production pilot line at its Vertical Energy Centre (VEC) in the UK, which began operations in 2023 and has already demonstrated significant power output during flight tests. The facility will produce battery packs for the Valo aircraft, supporting certification with aviation authorities, while plans for a second center aim to triple production capacity by 2035, targeting the delivery of approximately 45,000 battery packs.

Vertical Aerospace's battery production pilot line is now operational at its Vertical Energy Centre (VEC) in the UK, which was inaugurated in 2023. The VEC has produced batteries since 2024, demonstrating up to 1.4 MW power during flight tests.
The line will manufacture battery packs for the Valo aircraft, aiding in certification processes with the UK's Civil Aviation Authority and the European Union Aviation Safety Agency, with commercial production set for 2028. Concurrently, Vertical is developing the Vertical Energy Centre 2 (VEC2), which will triple battery production capacity. By 2035, the company aims to provide approximately 45,000 battery packs across its fleet, creating long-term revenue streams.
