Vertical Aerospace is debuting at the Singapore Airshow to focus on the Asia-Pacific region for advanced air mobility (AAM). One-third of its 1,500-unit order backlog comes from Asian operators, including AirAsia.
CEO Stuart Simpson cites Asia as the largest potential market for AAM due to its many mega-cities and island nations. Vertical has been testing its VX4 electric vertical take-off and landing (eVTOL) prototype since 2022 and recently introduced the Valo, a four-passenger aircraft expected to enter the market by 2027.
The Valo, showcased at the airshow, has received positive feedback for its safety, versatility, and baggage capacity. Vertical aims to complete transition flights of the VX4 by the first quarter of 2026, with a second prototype set to enhance engineering insights.
